Internet marketing is the use of online strategies or tactics for branding, marketing, advertising, and promoting products and services. Methods in Internet Marketing include search engine optimization (SEO), pay per click (PPC), email marketing, social media marketing, affiliate marketing, and any form of marketing of products and services online.

There’s only one person I know that can guarantee a number one spot on Google and his name is Sundar Pichai – he’s the CEO of Google. Other than Mr Pichai, it depends on the tactics they use, the competitiveness of your products and/or services and how long you’re willing to wait for those results. There are two methods to achieving first page results in Google. One is through white hat search engine optimization and the other is black hat SEO. White hat SEO includes optimizing your site’s front end, back-end, content, titles, link building and the proper use of certain keywords throughout your site in the appropriate places. Black hat SEO includes, buying links, content automation, doorway pages, hidden text or links, keyword stuffing, sneaky redirects, cloaking or even reporting a competitor. Read more about Black hat SEO tactics here. Google considers anything that doesn’t add value to users or any practice meant to deceive or spam visitors as unacceptable according to their guidelines. These tactics can get your site banned and you should really consider whether or not a temporary first page result is worth having your businesses site completely banned from major search engines.

You also need to be aware of what tactics the agency you use are using because many agencies that promise first page results in less than a months time are using black hat SEO techniques or tactics. Great organic results are achievable and there are many techniques and tactics available to achieve these results with white-hat SEO, but they typically don’t happen overnight unless you are already close to your target and you just need a little boost. So yes, first page results can be guaranteed, but the long-term price you may have to pay could cost you your online presence and business altogether.

You can definitely do your own Internet marketing, but should you do your own Internet marketing?  If you are an Internet marketing professional and you know what you’re doing then yes you can and should.  If you are not experienced with Internet marketing then you can still do your own marketing online but you will probably lose more money than you will save – especially if you attempt to run your own PPC campaigns.  And you will spend a lot of time focusing on something other than running your business and then your business will suffer.

Typically No! You should not buy followers on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram or any social media platform because if your followers aren’t real they aren’t going to engage in your conversations, purchase your products, listen to your music, or check out your services like real followers would. Even if those followers are from active or real accounts they still aren’t going to do you any good. You need real followers who have followed you because they are interested in what you are doing or selling so that they will pass on your messages and engage with your brand. If you’re not sure how to obtain genuine followers, read up on it, watch a few tutorials on Youtube, or hire a social media marketing agency to help get you started. In the long run, you will be glad you did.

Is there ever an exception to this rule? Occasionally – Most people are “followers” (no pun intended) so it may be beneficial. If you are just starting off in anything that has to do with the music or entertainment industry, you may want to purchase a few followers on select social media platforms to give yourself a jump start. If you do choose to do so, do it with care and don’t overdo it.

At least get the first 100 on your own and then if you need another boost, you may want to purchase a few more. However, I would definitely be careful with this because they can be snatched away and that would bring you supreme embarrassment if someone notices and they typically do.

At the end of the day, the best policy is to take your time and provide good content that fans or potential clients will want to see in their feeds so that you can acquire true followers or fans.

Some of the benefits of Social Media Marketing include: More exposure for your business, the ability to connect with potential clients, insight into the lives of your customers and their preferences, a source of reputation management and lead generation.  To read more about the benefits of Social Media Marketing view this article “The Benefits of Social Media Marketing“.
